Time Saver | How to Take Care of Your Hair

The one critical, yet highly irrational, part of my body that dictates whether I have a “good feel day” or a “bad feel day”, is my hair. Check out Time Saver #23 below to wash, maintain, and style in minutes. Your hair (and sanity) will thank you.

Step 1.

Wash your hair 2 – 3 / week, max.

Start at the roots and work shampoo through ends. Be gentle.

Step 2.

Use shampoo that’s free of parabens, silicones and sulfates.

Also, make sure it’s moisturizing, as well as color preserving for those of you salon enthusiasts. If you need to maintain color, Purelogy is a great option.

For some extra moisture (will work for both color and non-color treated hair), this one by Caviar is a cult favorite. Couple with light yet moisturizing conditioner, to ensure your hair doesn’t get too dry. Both come in travel size.

And if you’re blond or going the silver fox route, try this Blonde Ale Brightening shampoo from Drybar to manage brassiness. Once a week max is enough to get that cool tone.

Step 3.

Always de-tangle your hair before and after showering.

Try the de-tangling hairbrush to prevent breakage and make hair easier to manage. For a little extra help, use a it’s a 10 Miracle Leave-in conditioner. Smooths hair, while adding shine along with heat protection.

Step 4. Shower at night.  Frees up your morning.

Olaplex Hair Perfector No 3 Repairing Treatment, 3.3 Ounce (Packaging may vary)Restorative Hair Mask, Main, color, NONEStep 1.

Use weekly hair masks that don’t require a lot of time.

This Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3 strengthens the hair from within, and only requires 10 mins (you don’t even have to get out of the shower!). If you have thicker locks that need more intense hydration, try this Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask. Just leave on for five minutes and rinse.

For those of you blondes out there, use this Christophe Robin mask to manage brassiness and revive color. You only need five minutes but can go up to 30 for more treatment.

If your hair needs some extra love, try Briogeo, Don’t Despair, Repair Mask  for 10 minutes. Will revive even the most damaged hair stat.

Step 2.

Sleep on a silk pillow case.

Cotton absorbs moisture from your hair, thereby being unnecessarily drying. Instead, opt for a silk pillow case that’s naturally hypoallergenic, providing a smooth surface, which prevents breakage of those fine ends.

Spiral Bobby Hair Pins / NON-SCRATCH ROUNDED TIPS / Spin Pins / Twist Screw Hair Pins / 8 Pack / by HAWWWYHair Up:

If you have longer locks, pull your hair up into a quick bun using these spiral bobby pins. Super easy to style and will hold all day. If you have shorter hair, use this Aveda Control Paste for added definition with a good hold.

Hair Down:

To bring your hair back to life stat, add natural dry shampoo to roots. Leave on for a few minutes, then work though hair with brush or hands. To add quick volume, pair with the Triple Sec 3-in-1 spray from Drybar. Will create some texture and body pronto.

OurBFF Tip: Wake up with non-greasy hair by simply adding dry shampoo to your roots in the evening, so it can absorb hair oil all night.

Main Image - Dyson Supersonic™ Hair DryerBlow Dry:

If you want the quickest blow dry *ever*, try the Dyson Supersonic hairdryer. The Dyson sports the quickest and most advanced motor on the market, coupled with highly controlled airflow, creating a powerful high speed blow dryer.

And it’s quiet enough not to wake up the neighbors. Admittedly, it’s a little pricey, but a great investment to shave 10 minutes off your blow dry.

Flat Iron:

If you want straight hair stat, try this BabyBlissPro flat iron that works magic on wet hair. I don’t recommend you do this often as it may cause damage. However, it’s a lifesaver when you need to get out of the house fast.

Get It done. Save Time. In Style.
