Time Saver | Smudge Proof Lip Makeup That Will Last All Day

A great lipstick always pulls everything together… too bad it’s nearly impossible to find the perfect color, much less one that lasts all day. Check out some great smudge proof lip options below, along with a helpful skin color guide to boot!

The Lip Stain

For 8+ hour wear, Yves Saint Laurent Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stains ($36) are weightless, non-drying and move along with your lips when your lips move (no judgement). The texture is semi-sheer but buildable with 18 high pigment colors. Just wait 10 seconds or so between coats to get deeper, longer lasting color.

The Lip Pigment

For a defined matte finish, the Nars Powermatte Lip Pigment ($26) are long lasting, flexible and light weight. The wand allows for precise application, setting instantly. 18 great colors for all skin types.

OurBFF Tip: For a more defined look, first line lips with applicator, then fill with color. Shake before use.

The Lip Crayon (Creamy Matte)

If you want a long wearing creamier matte option, the Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon ($24) won’t dry your lips as these sticks are made with food grade ingredients (good enough to eat!). No phthalates, parabens or sulfates. Come in 24 vibrant colors.

OurBFF Tip: These crayons are a lipstick and a liner in one. If you want a sharper edge, just sharpen the tip with a built in sharpener at the base and off you go.

Get It Done. Save Time. In Style.

Hi Marie – thanks for the great post! I’m always looking for a good long lasting lipstick. For the novice lipstick user, can you explain the difference between the stain and the pigment? Is one more fitting for the work day vs happy hour?

Hi Karen. The difference between the three is the texture. If you’re looking for a sheer look that is more natural, the stain is for you – as it literally stains your lips. The pigment is a thicker texture being more highly saturated (think that of a tattoo). Lastly, the crayon has a creamy texture that of an actual crayon (though all natural ingredients) to give you a sense. In terms of work vs happy hour, any of the above would work (with the stain being the most natural of the three) but the key is the color. Take a look at the color charts based on your skin color – I would say the mauves are best for work, the pinks for happy hour and the reds for a night out.
