The lashes that I hear snapping when I can’t get my smudge-proof makeup off, are lashes that I’m never going to grow back. Below are best in class makeup removers with a powerful, yet gentle touch.
EYE AND LIP MAKEUP REMOVERS
Oil-Based
My favorite oil-based makeup remover of all time is Lancome’s Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Makeup Remover (4.2oz, $30). Takes 1-2 wipes to dissolve all makeup with a soothing feel. Comes in both a bigger (6.7oz, $40) and a smaller (1.7oz, $15) size. Easy to refill as needed.
Oil Free
Estee Lauder’s Gentle Face Makeup Remover (3.4oz, $20) is gentle yet effective leaving no oily residue. Best for trying on different make up looks or touching up smeared makeup. Ultra light and non-irritating.
Clinique’s Take the Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes & Lips (4.2oz, $19) is a great oil free alternative that won’t tug, irritate or sting. Best for contact wearers as it’s ophthalmologist tested, fragrance and paraben free. Comes in a travel size too (1.7oz, $9.50).
OurBFF Tip: Pour a nickel size amount on a cotton round, place on area for 30 seconds to allow makeup to soften, then gently wipe off. In case of stubborn makeup, lightly soak cotton round first in warm water before adding product.
FACIAL MAKEUP REMOVERS
Using oil to remove makeup will preserve the quality of your skin’s natural oils without leaving skin feeling tight. Best for sensitive skin, Boscia Makeup Breaking Cleansing Oil (5oz, $32) is made with jojoba oil and willow herb, which offer antioxidants coupled with anti inflammatory agents. Free of artificial fragrance, ethanol alcohol, parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
Award winning Japan made DHC Beauty Oil (6.7oz, $27.98) hydrates and nourishes the skin while dissolving all dirt, makeup, and oil. Vitamin E, essential oils, and olive oil leave skin feeling soft. Won’t break you out, works for all skin types.
Although Tatcha’s Pure One Step Camellia Cleaning Oil is a bit on the expensive side (5.1oz, $48), it works wonders for the skin. Infused with Japanese camellia oil (tsubaki) and rice bran oils, it melts makeup, oil, and dirt right off. Leaves skin supple due to its rich source of vitamins A, B, D, and E and nourishing Omegas 3, 6, and 9. Dermatologist tested, free of mineral oil, synthetic fragrances, sulfate detergents, urea, DEA, and TEA. Comes in a travel size (0.8oz, $15).
OurBFF Tip: Apply product to dry skin, massaging in a circular motion. Use a cotton round to add more pressure. Rinse 3 – 4 times with warm water. If you’re feeling more adventurous (and have a few extra mins) follow up with a non-oil cleanser for a “double cleanse”.
Get It Done. Save Time. In Style.
